HSE Approved Code of Practice (L117) requires companies to provide basic training PLUS familiarisation and specific job training before authorisation to operate in the workplace is issued. This might be just a couple of hours or up to a day, but HSE insist that training records must reflect that all three stages have been completed.
Don’t get caught out in the event of an accident, as a lack of specific job and familiarisation training is one of the most common failings in HSE investigations.
