What is Driver CPC Training?

Driver CPC is a certificate of professional competence which has been introduced to improve road safety and maintain high driving standards across Europe. As of September 10th 2009 it has become European Legislation that all professional heavy goods vehicle, bus and coach drivers must hold their Driver CPC before they can drive for living.

Simply put, without the Driver CPC you cannot drive for a living, without the Driver CPC your drivers cannot work for you.

Who Needs Driver CPC Training?

All new HGV, bus and coach drivers must acquire their Driver CPC before they can commence work.

Existing drivers who hold a C, C1, CE, C1E, D*, D1*, DE* or D1E* licence issued before 10th September 2009 (2008 for bus and coach drivers) are eligible for ‘acquired rights’ so do not need to take the initial qualification. * acquired rights do not apply if you have Code 101 entitlement (‘not for hire or reward’) on your licence.

All professional drivers MUST complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years to retain their Driver CPC. This means that every HGV driver in the EU must undertake an average of 7 hours training every year to keep their right to drive for a living.

We do all of the paperwork, upload candidate details to the DSA and maintain their training records, plus we work proactively with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) to keep your company operating within their regulations.

Drivers can complete their CPC training with an entirely optional assessment. Successful assessment will lead to RTITB registration and certification, however this is not a requirement of Driver CPC completion.
